Why Do Yoga?


Yoga can be a gentler approach than other forms of exercise, and can be the most appropriate type of exercise for people with chronic health conditions.

Yoga emphasizes focused breathing, which is very calming and strengthening to the central nervous system. Many people do not know how to breathe consciously, and learning/practicing how to breathe consciously is the most effective practice in reducing stress levels.

Yoga teaches people to be aware of their bodies, which can help reduce injuries and improve wellness all around

If done regularly, yoga can increase flexibility, strength, coordination, and balance

People find the combination of breath and movement very relaxing

A Yoga practice is personal- students work at their own pace at their own level, even in a class

Yoga can also teach awareness of thoughts and feelings, and helpful ways to approach challenging feelings and thoughts
